Fiddler on the Roof
Strong dance and vocals is show's focus

Elon's Department of Theatre Arts
will open its 1991-92 season with lively
dance and vocal numbers in its production
of the musical. Fiddler on the Roof.
A cast of over 50 students, faculty,
and community members will perform
Thursday, Oct. 31- Saturday, Nov. 2 at
8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2
p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre.
Fiddler is directed by Assistant
Professor of Fine Arts, Fred Rubeck.
"This is by far the largest scale production
we've undertaken to date," said Rubeck.
Catherine McNeela, assistant
professor of voice, serves as musical
director, Rosemary Howard, instructor of
dance, as choreographer, and John Drtina,
assistant professor of fine arts, as scene
and lighting designer.
Elon's production of Fiddler also
features guest Equity actOT, P.T. Kerr, in
the lead role of Tcvye. Kerr has woiiced
consistently throughout the United States
on national tours and oiT braadway.
Fiddler is set during the eve of the
Russian revolutionary period in the
Russian village of Anatevka. The suvy
revolves around a Jewish dairyman "Uying

NAIA Cites Elon official
The National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics has inducted
former Elon College faculty
rqxeseniative. Wes Alexander, into their
Hall of Fame for moitorious service.
Alexander served Elon College as a
member of the £aculty athletics committee
for 26 years, serving as chairman far 24
years. Alexander also served as the
instiUition's faculty athletics representative
(of District 26 and the NAIA.
