Evers of Alpha Omicron Pi was
named homecoming queen.
Evers' victory marked the third
straight year that a sister from
AOII won the crown.

homecoming weekend match
up, Elon's football team
defeated Gardncr-Webb 20-10.

Elon College Writing Center
opened up for the first time in
September 1988.

Halloween
happenings
Halloween happenings hit
Elon's campus this week.
■ A Halloween costume rush
party was held Thursday, Oct. 24
at the Zeta House.
Chapter president, Tricia
Talbert said about 100 girls were
in attendance. All Zeta members
were dressed in Halloween attire.
One of the most unusual
guests was a Marge Simpson
look-alike, complete with blue
haired wig. Bart wasn't invited.
Two roommates posed as
pop-tarts and Talbert and her
roommate Kathy Nicole were a
couple of M & M's.
■ Colonnades editor Laurie
Wommack said that Colonnades
and Pegasus had approximately
50 students attend Phantasm and
Phobia. The group met Friday
evening, Oct. 25 in West Hall to
read tales of terror and dread in
honor of Halloween.
■ On Monday, OcL 28, the
Residence Hall Association
sponsored "Wicked West," an
event during which members of

"Mardi Gras at Elon" is the
theme for Homecoming 1991 this
weekend, Nov. 1-3.
Homecoming has been
celebrated around campus this
past week. According to Nicole
Tubbs, Homccoming chairman,
the two most important and
enjoyable events are Skit Night,
which was Wednesday at 7:30
p.m. in Whitley, and the Float
Competition to be held Saturday
at 11:45 a.m. down Haggard
Avenue.
Tubbs is happy with this
year's Homccoming so far. "All
in all, it's been a great succcss in
that a lot of people are involved
this year, and everyone's having

suspect is
arrested

Earlier this week, a
Burlington native was convicted of
three counts of misdemeanor
indecent exposure. One of the three
charges dates back to an incident
that occurred on the campus of
Elon College.
Gary Boyd Moore, 40, a
resident of The Economy Lodge in
Hillsborough, N.C. was fined
$100 and given a two year
suspended sentence for five years.
According to Larry Huger of the
Durham County Clerk of Courts
office, the sentence is worded so
that Moorc will rcceive a two year
jail term if he breaks another law
within ihc next five years.
