The contest begins at 8 p.m. in Whitley Auditorium. ■ On Saturday, the Admissions office is running a visitation day for prospective high school students. ■ On Saturday, SUB is sponsoring a video dance in Harper Center Lounge at 9 p.m. ■ On Sunday, the men's lacrosse team plays at Washington - Lee. The game begins at 2:30 p.m. ■ The Music Department Gala show will be held on Wednesday in the Fine Arts Theater at 8:00 p.m. ■ Thursday is the last day to enter the Intramural Body Building Contest ■ The next S.G.A. meeting will be held on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Senate Room of Long Student Center. ■ Dr. James David Barber, author of The Presidential Politics and The Pulse of Politics will speak at iElon on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. Fifteen Years Ago: On December 1, 1977, approx imately 100 Elon students and faculty members rode nearly 2,700 miles on stationary bicycles in an effort to raise money for the North Carolina Easter Seal Project. Charity Apple The Pendulum Friends, professors, and classmates want to remember Chad Edward Macy as a friendly, out-going person, who always stopped to say hello. Macy's academic and Elon 101 advisor, Nancy Harris, said, "Even after Elon 101 was over this fall, he would go out of his way to wave or yell my name if he saw me on campus." Many professors described Macy as cooperative, competitive, and an excellent student Becky House, coordinator for tutorial services, and his English professor, said, "He seemed to be the All-American kid. It just made me sick to hear what happened." Macy was a member of the football team, on an academic scholarship, dean's list and recently accepted a bid from Kappa Sigma fraternity at Elon. He was a 1991 graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he was a member of the National Honor Society and played football, baseball and See Mourns, Page 3 Freshman killed in car accident Murray Glenn The Pendulum The Elon College police department believes alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the accident that took the life of an Elon College freshman. Chad Edward Macy, 18, from Pompano Beach, Florida died early Sunday morning as a result of a massive head trauma incurred from a single car accident on West Trollinger Avenue. "We will receive the blood alcohol content report from the medical examiners office at the start of the week," said Dan Ingle, chief of the Elon College Police Department. "This is the first student fatality (Alcohol - Related) that I recall since I have been here." According to police reports, the accident occurred at 2:30 a.m. while Macy and Barrett Frain were traveling west on West Trollinger Ave. The car ran off the right side of the road and overturned.
