The game begins at 2 p.m. ■ Monday is the entry deadline for students interested in playing intramural golf. ■ On Tuesday, graduate Sharon Moore from UNC-G will visit Elon to talk to students about graduate programs at UNC- G. Call ext. 2538 for more information. ■ Thursday is the last day to remove Incomplete ("I") and "NR" Grades. Call the Registrars' office at ext. 2426. ■ On Thursday, Dr. Bruce N. Waller, author of Freedom Without Responsibility and former member of Elon's philosophy department returns to campus to deliver the 12th annual Reynolds Lecture. His topic is "How 10 Take Responsibility and Avoid Blame." The program begins at 8 p.m. in Yeager Recital Hall. ■ Next Friday, Elon College will host the Alamance County Special Olympics. The games will be held at Bakatsias field. The action begins at 8 a.m. For more information, call Elon Volunteers at ext. 2102. THE PAST Thirty - Two Years Ago: On February 1, 1960, four black students in Greensboro refused to leave a Woolworth lunch counter after they were denied service. Their stand precipitated a nationwide sit-in movement. Sixty - Seven Years Ago: On July 24, 1925, John T. Scopes was found guilty of having taught evolution at a high school located in Dayton, Tennessee. Eighty - Two Years Ago: Boy Scouts of America was founded on February 8, 1910. It's all happening at the zoo Todd Hershey The Pendulum Gorillas, lions and all sorts of wild animals can be found within 60 miles of Elon College. They are located at the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro, N.C. The park is a natural habitat zoo spread over 1,448 acres. The park has eight outdoor and two indoor exhibits. The African region covers 300 acres and has 2 miles of winding paths through wooded hills. While walking through this area, visitors can see Thompson's gazelles, impalas. Greater kudus and Saddle- bill storks roaming free on grassy plains. The R.J. Reynolds Forest Aviary has has more than 140 exotic birds and 2,400 plants. Awareness week begins on Monday Jennifer Cowman The Pendulum "Unity In The Community" is the theme for Campus Awareness Week, which begins on Monday. Elon Volunteers! and the Student Government Association are co-sponsoring the series, which will focus on issues that affect our campus. These activities will be organized and performed by different campus organizations, each group touching on a different issue each day of the week. On Monday, Habitat For Humanity will focus on homeless awareness. Tuesday, ENACT will explore environmental awareness, Wednesday, Black Cultural Society will explore cultural diversity, Thursday Omega Psi Phi will touch on A.I.D.S. awareness and Friday, Be Well will explore health awareness. This year is no different. However, the selection process has changed. Students were not able to pick participants this year. Instead, only professors made the decisions.
