Homecoming 1992 Aon's representative is crowned Katie Brock The Pendulum Michelle Scott, the representative from Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, was named the 1992 Homecoming Queen during half-time of Saturday s football game against Lees- McRae. The announcement of the winning organization ended a week-long competition between 26 campus organizations. The Homecoming winner was determined by a combination of the six events, all of which related to the theme, "A Salute to Walt Disney." The banner competition was on Monday. Food Lion fights ABC's allegations DeeDee Carowan The Pendulum The charges range from bleached fish to rat-nibbled cheese. The Food Lion grocery store chain is still reeling from an ABC investigative report on Primetime Live Thursday night, which exposed alleged unsanitary practices at their stores. Footage from the hidden camera of an ABC producer posing as a meat wrapper in a North Carolina store showed workers re wrapping old meat and changing expiration dates on packages to get more shelf life out of them. Former employees spoke out against unrealistic workloads imposed by the company, which they said forced them to cut cleanliness comers. Spokesmen for the Salisbury- based chain have accused ABC of See Food Lion, Page 8 Habitat stands the cold for land Allison Cooke The Pendulum As the temperature dropped below freezing Monday night, four Elon Habitat for Humanity members weathered the cold in cardboard boxes and blankets. Bundled in layers of clothing and sleeping in cardboard “shacks,” these Habitaters were hoping to raise community awareness about the inadequate housing some families are forced to live in and the need to build more Habitat houses. Specifically, Habitat wants to build a house in Elon College. “We’re out here to raise awareness about the fact that we need land in Elon College to build on,” Steve Messinetti, Elon’s Habitat president, said.
