A second inspection last week found Harden cleaner. The Sept. 21 inspection was not the first time an ARA Services’s dining facility at Elon College was found to be dirty. Past inspections revealed rodent droppings, ants, crickets and roaches in campus eat ing facilities. ARA Services tries to keep its facilities “sanitary,” said Jeff Gazda, director of Dining Service. The floors, walls, ceilings, ventilation and storage spaces also weren’t clean. Harden also lost points because a grease fire the previous day had charred a ventilation filter. Harden’s score indicated a place that is “a little bit dirty,” said health inspector Dan G. Williamson. A score below 70 would cost the dining hall its health permit. Gazda said he asked Williamson to inspect Harden again, even though the score of 87 didn’t endanger its health permit. Harden received a score of 95 for the Sept. 28 inspection. It again lost points because utensils and equipment weren’t clean and the lighting was too dim. Every dining facility is re quired to be inspected four times a year. The inspections are unan- ^nouiiccd, V.'illiamson said. Inspections of McEwen, The Back Door and The Varsity Grille last month also found that utensils and equipment were not stored in a clean place protected from flies. The ice equipment also was not clean. In the past four years, inspec tions have found food stored at improper temperatures, rodent droppings, ants, crickets and roaches. Cleaning solutions were either unavailable or not used. Pet World Cum Park Plaza • 229-0311 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Mon-Frl 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sat. 1 p.m. -6 p.m. Sun. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!
