The organization, which didn’t apply for money during the SGA budget hearings, asked for $2,068 for transportation, lodging, food and conference registration. After sev eral minutes of discussion, the SGA nar rowed the money down. The money will come out of the SGA’s rollover account. Walt Lotspeich, an Alpha Kappa Psi officer, said the conference will help the leaders of his fraternity. “We not only feel that going to this conference will make us better leaders, it will also give Elon recogni tion,” he said. The SGA gave the Elon College Gospel Choir about $ 1,000 last spring semester for a trip the group was taking, said SGA adviser Barb Carlton. Showcase to Display Senior Talent Ten seniors will showcase their talents in front of students and family the night before graduation in the seventh annual Se nior Showcase. The event, which is free to everyone, is scheduled for May 23 in McCrary Hall. "We try to represent some of the things that we are good at in the showcase," said organizer Mary Jo Pestle, assistant professor of history. Students were nominated for the honor to speak, sing or read for five-minutes. Pestle said there were 25 individuals nominated by either themselves, staff or faculty members. The event will feature three singers, two speakers, two communications majors with video presentations, a poet, a dancer and a sports medicine major who will wrap an ankle in less than three minutes. Greek Groups Volunteer for Alamance County Fund-raiser More than 60 members of Elon's Kappa Alpha Order and Sigma Sigma Sigma spent a night at a casino to raise money for a good cause. The Greek organizations helped raise money for the Alamance County Service League on April 18 at the popular "Casino Night," held at the Ramada Inn, just off 1-85. People came from all over the area to test their gambling skills and donate money. Participants paid a sum of money at the door and were given an amount of chips for raffle tickets. The tickets were exchanged at the door for prizes. Allison Gant, director of the event, was pleased with the groups' participation. THE ■L-0 % ON ANY SALON SERVICE OF $15.00 OR MORE.
