Those amendments which passed at the Feb. 4 meeting will be included on the ballot during the SGA Elections Feb. 22-23. Although 13 of the proposed amendment changes passed in the Senate, two controversial changes to the constitution did not. Proposed revisions to Article VIII, which details election qualifi cations and process, and Article XI, which governs the impeachment process, were voted down by the Senate. The proposed change to Ar ticle VIII was to include a require ment that any person wishing to run for a position as an SGA executive must have a year’s experience with SGA. see SGA, page 6 Emily MacDonnell/TTie Pendulum Father Agostino Gardin (left) chats with junior Kristin Hartley and Elon President Leo Lambert during his visit to the Catholic Campus Ministry of Elon College and Blessed Sacrament Church Tuesday, Feb. 9. Career Center aids three IBM interns Alan Medeiros The Pendulum Three Elon students have re cently been placed in internships with IBM through the Elon College Career Center. Joel Watson, Cathy Woelfel and Jeff Bishcler were all placed in full-time, career track positions at IBM in Research Triangle Park. While it used to be rare that a 'corporation as large as IBM would come to recruit on a campus of Elon’s size, this is part of a new trend. Bonnie Krosse, of the Elon ■ College Career Center explained this new trend in corporate recruiting. “Rather than waiting for ap plicants to go to corporations, cor porations are now coming to col lege campuses and recruiting stu dents.” “Here at Elon we work ag gressively with prospective employ ers to market students’ skills strongly.” Watson feels that the help given to him from the Career Cen ter staff was vital in landing this position. Krosse said that this is an excellent example of just one of the many opportunities that are avail able to Elon College students through the career center. see CAREER, page 6
