Treatment for multiple injuries is usually not in cluded in the list of things “to do.” Unfortunately for Daniel Logan MacCallum, this September has become more than the start of a new semester at school. On Friday, Sept. 17, MacCullum was attempting to cross Williamson Avenue at 1:15 p.m. when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle did not stop. Elon College Campus Police and the Town of Elon College Po lice Department are working to gether to solve this hit-and-ran case. So far, there are no suspects. Police are looking for a white car, possibly a 1980s or older model Buick or Oldsmobile. “No one actually saw the col lision. Witnesses heard it [the colli sion] and then looked,” said Corpo ral L.K. Albian. Witnesses stated that the driver pulled over in front of tiie College Coffee shop momen tarily, but then drove away. No one was able to get any occupant or license plate information. Employees at the College Coffee shop said they didn’t hear anything until after the accident occurred. Bank of America em ployee Toni Webster said the bank didn’t know anything had happened until a man ran up to the drive- through teller window and yelled for someone to call 911. Another bank employee, Anne Denney, made the call. MacCullum was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Cen ter where he was treated for rib, ankle and arm injuries. Tara Morlando, East Campus Area Di rector, was on duty when the acci dent occurred. Dean of students Scott Nelson said Morlando and Chief of Elon College Campus Po lice Chuck Gantos have been in frequent contact with MacCullum’s parents. MacCullum has since been released from Alamance Regional Medical Center and has gone home to rest and recover.
