sn- ^ : • News Oct. 13, 2000 College bookstore celebrates grand reopening after summer renovations Elizabeth Sudduth The Pendulum Elon College’s Campus Shop is revealing a new look this fall. Friday, a ribbon cut ting ceremony was held out side the shop in the Moseley Student Center to celebrate the new changes. A handful of faculty and students, along with represen tatives from Barnes & Noble, joined President Lambert and the employees of the store for the ceremony. Refreshments were pro vided as well as musical en tertainment. The first 200 people to enter the new store received a gift of an Elon cof fee mug and raffle giveaways were drawn from 12-6 p.m. Before Moseley Center was built, the student book store was located in Long. Now the Spencer and Martha Love School of Busi ness, Long was at one time was the student center on cam pus. In 1995, with the comple tion of the Moseley Center, the Campus Shop was moved. It serves as the only campus source for items such as text books and Elon paraphernalia to posters and computer soft ware. Renovations of the store began this began this summer and were finished before school started. Finishing touches and more merchandise were added with the start of fall. “The shop never closed,” Jolene Alley, Store Manager said. “Just the same, we wanted to show off the new look of the store and that’s why we are having a grand re opening.” Additions to the store include new carpet, a warmer color scheme more shelving for textbooks and new wood tone display models. The Phoenix Shop, a section of the store, is devoted to Phoenix attire. “The biggest improve ment was the computerized point of sale registers,” Alley lES “The biggest improvement was the computerized point of sale registers. Before, purchases made with the Elon Card could only be made with one register.” -Jolene Alley, Store Manager Jennifer McCort/ The Pendulum said. “Before, purchases made with the Elon Card could only be made with one register.” According to Alley, store merchandise can now be scanned rather than keyed-in and Phoenix Card purchases can be made from every regis ter. “It’s a facelift,” Alley said. “Everything needs a little change every now and then.
