When she turned her head she could see straight down the hallway to the bedrooms When someone moves, there is a slight rustling noise. Well, she heard a door open and the sound of someone moving in the hall. Thinking it was her husband getting up she turned to look. No one was there. “It happened again. The rustling noise. The sound of the turning door knob. Even the loose boards creaked, in dicating someone was in the hall. But no one was there. “This went on for a while un til it got on her nerves. She ex pected to see her husband and seeing no one, she got up and moved to another chair. “Other things happened as well. Even the chil dren mentioned it, though at the time, no one re ally gave it much thought. There were sounds, bumps and shuffled noises as if k someone was moving around the room. If you were in the house alone, you did not feel by yourself. “But what hap pened next was something no one would have ever expected. It happened at night. About 2:30 a.m. the mother was rudely awakened by the sound of her son crying. He said he had seen a man standing in his bed room. She tried to calm him down. She didn’t want to tell him he imagined it, that he had just been dreaming. He was so sure he had seen someone. “So, she told him he had probably seen the shadow of his daddy when he passed by the boy’s room. Although she knew he walked by more than half an hour ago. The child was satis fied and went back to sleep. “Less than 12 hours later, the woman came home to find her daughter standing in the drive way in tears she was so scared. ‘There’s a man in there. I passed him in the hall,’ she told her mother. She had been talk ing on the phone, when she looked up to see a man wearing a wide brim hat standing near the bedroom door. “The woman knew that no body could have gotten into the house. She walked in and stood at the telephone where the daughter had been. She looked through the den, past the sofa and down the hall. There weren’t any shadows, no clothes draped over a door or anything that could have been misinter preted as being a human being. “The next day in the quiet of the morning after everyone was gone she stood washing her dishes. She was now so used to the feeling of a presense at her shoulder that when she didn’t it was very noticeable to her. from CLASSIC FILMS “Traffic” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” I even enjoy the occasional blockbuster action movie (“The Matrix” comes to mind).
