Duringthefirstweekend back, police estimated the crowd was approx imately 2,500 people. Ashlev S. Feibish_ News Editor The residents of Sheridan Place apartments are accustomed to see ing the police cars drive through the complex on the weekend. Sheridan Place apartment resi dents are often the hosts of several parties on the weekend. It is not unusual for students to frequent the “bottom,” the apartments in the bot tom of Sheridan. These parties have caught the attention of the Town of Elon police. Part of the problem, said Jon Villanova, a captain on the Town of Elon police force, is that the apart ments are owned by different peo ple, with the exception of the ones at the bottom, which are owned by the same group of people. “The officers that went in there (to Sheridan, the first weekend back at school) estimated the crowd to be 2,500,” Villanova said. “I know there was a lot of damage done in Sheridan. As people become more and more inebriated, then cars are damaged, all kinds of bad things happen. It’s not all people, however; once the damage starts, it causes us a lot of headaches.” Residents of Sheridan have seen the town of police take pictures on the weekends. Villanova said he cannot comment on the pictures because he is not familiar with them, although he said the pictures were probably taken to illustrate a problem and not to focus on individ ual people. Privacy laws are not violated if the pictures are taken in a common area, Villanova said. “I like living in Sheridan,” said junior Kasey Johnson. “I don’t feel like they have the right to take my picture. I bought it, it’s my house, I can do what I want.” Scott Nelson, assistant dean of students, viewed pictures from LaVelle Lovette, Town of Elon police chief. “We had a town-campus coali tion meeting last (week),” Nelson See SHERIDAN p. 4 Police checkpoints net 7 DUIs Andrew S.
