The Pendulum staff has taken the time this summer to time the distance from 8 common locations on campus, both academic buildings and din ing halls, to residence halls. Last year to create a pedestrian campus, the campus transportation and traffic planning committee formed a proposal that would force all students within a 10-minute walking frame to find other methods to get to main campus. This academic year, the proposal is in effect. Last year there were 3,296 parking spaces available, this year,“we’re losing about 325 spots as of Jan. that will be eliminated because of construction. Oct. 1 is really when the big parking changes happen. JC will move down there (referring to Danieley Center parking lot),” said Brian O’Shea, assistant to the vice president for Student Life and Dean of Students. The Sept. 1 issue of The Pendulum will fea ture an in-depth feature on the transportation system.
