Linebacker award Plaver of the Month
Junior linebacker Chad Nkang was named
SoCon defensive player of the month for
September. Nkang led a defense that finished first
in the conference and 14th in the nation in both
rushing defense and total defense. Elon finished
second in the conference and 10th in the nation in
scoring defense. Nkang currently leads the confer
ence in tackles per game at seventh in the nation
with 49; Nkang also has four sacks and a forced
fumble.
BasebaU posts 2006 scherinle
The Elon baseball team announced their
schedule Tuesday, which will include 16 games
against teams who competed in last year’s
Division I Regionals. Coach Mike Kennedy and
the rest of the team will open the season against
the nationally competitive South Carolina
Gamecocks and will play national recognized
teams such as Auburn, Coastal Carolina, Wake
Forest, Clemson and North Carolina.
Eorward nabs All-Conferenrp
Senior power forward Jackson Atoyebi was
named to the All-conference team this year.
This is Atoyebi’s second consecutive presea
son selection. Last year Atoyebi was sidelined
during the fourth game of the year with a sea
son-ending shoulder injury. Prior to the injury
Atoyebi averaged 14 points and 3.8 rebounds
per game.for the men’s basketball team.
