Page 4 « Thursday, October 13, 2005 NEWS Midnight meals still deal Thursday nights Brandon Hughes Reporter Order has been reinstated at Midnight Meals. During Midnight Meals on Sept. 29, for the first time students were charged at Midnight Meals, but swiping has since been abolished. After finding out that students were being charged Janis Baughman, assistant director of Student Activities contacted Dean Nelson. Dean Nelson spoke to Food Services and was able to get Midnight Meals to be free once again. Last Thursday students were happy to see Midnight Meals become free again. “I’m glad they woke up and realized it was kind of a big deal,” Holland said. “The University will continue to pay for Midnight Meals and meals will be put back on the cards of those students who used their meal plans the night of September 29,” said Vickie Somers, director of Auxiliary Services. “The meals will be back on Phoenix Cards by Friday, October 14.” The cost was one meal plan and students were allowed to eat as much as they wanted. Students were shocked to find out Midnight Meals was temporarily not free. “If I want to get charged for a late night meal I will go to Wendy’s,” said one student who was there, freshman Bryan Holland. “Aramark (was) now charging students for midnight meals,” Janis Baughman, assistant director of Student Activities, said. “This has occurred because of the implementation of the new meal plans. No one in my office was informed of this decision before last week.” The new meal card system allows a student to purchase the actual number of meals that they will be eating each week and gives the student control as to when the meals are eaten. Students can use all of their meals in one day if they wish. If they do not use all of their meals in a week, which is Wednesday through Tuesday, the unused meals will roll over to the next week.
