According to Cpt. Sam Russell, assistant chief of police of Elon Police Department, prosecutors charged Adam Blank, a 22-year-old senior from Columbus, with five cocaine-related counts. Blank was a target of an ongoing investigation. An Elon Town Police officer stopped Blank at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Truitt Drive. Officers located a bag containing approxi mately 40 grams of cocaine along with a syringe that contained an unknown substance. The traffic stop led police to 602 East Haggard Ave. (Sheridan Place Apartments), apartment No. 53. During the search of the resi dence, officers located an addition al six small bags of cocaine that weighed approximately 13 grams, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. In total, the seized cocaine is about the size of a chicken egg. In this case, the entire residence was searched. If convicted for trafficking cocaine, Blank faces a mandatory 35- month sentence and a maxi mum 42- month sentence with a $50,000 fine.
