Annual fundraiser returns for round four

Although Elon’s biggest
fundraiser is 22 days away, the
Elonthon Executive Committee
started counting down the days in
August, when they began training
and preparing for 24 hours of
activities and entertainment.
The deadline for teams and
organizations to sign up is tomor
row, but according to the
Elonthon staff, they allow and
encourage individuals to sign up
any time in the near future,
because it’s an event students
won’t want to miss.
“Dance Marathon is an experi
ence you can’t put in words; it is
life changing,” said Hilaire
Pickett, External Relations Chair.
The annual fundraiser raises
money for the Children’s Miracle
Network at Duke Children’s
Hospital in Durham. From noon,
April 8 to noon, April 9, partici
pants will stay on their feet as the
Executive Team provides the food,
entertainment and support.
After students and organiza
tions sign up, the Exec. Team
sends out letters to the partici
pant’s family and friends, asking
them to sponsor the participant.
“Sponsors can do any amount
they want,” Morale Chair Kaitlin
Griffith said. “The goal is $225 for
each dancer, and usually they just
write a check.”
Entertainment Chair Laura
Bouvin said it shouldn’t be hard
for participants to stay on their
feet this year, because the team
made changes to keep participants
energized and awake.
“There’s always things to do,”
she said.
