Senior Robbie Goins was released from
the hospital after being involved in a car
accident last week.
He was hospitalized on Nov. 6 after his
SUV crashed into the side of Trinity Worship
Center on S. Church Street in Burlington. He
was transported to Alamance Regional
Medical Center where he was treated for lac
erations and contusions. Goins was released
from the hospital on Tuesday night, spending
over a week in the hospital.
The police believed that the accident was
caused by possible narcotics, excessive driving
and a possible medical condition, but the inci
dent is still under investigation.
“Any action that may be taken as a result
of anything that happened in still pending
feedback from the accident,” football coach
Pete Lembo said. “All his previous experi
ences and dealings in this community have
been very positive.”
Goins is a defensive end on the Hon foot
ball team and the team captain. He was held out
of the team’s trip to North Carolina A&T this
weekend because of his stay in the hospital.
Up until this point Goins has a[^)eared in
nine of the team’s 10 games and recorded 27
tackles, two for a loss, and half a sack.
“It’s not the way I’d like to see any senior
finish his career,” Lembo said. “ITiese are the
trials that people go through in their Uves and
I’m sure he will get through this and move on.”
Goins’ will not be participating in the
team’s game this weekend against The
Citadel. His last game as a Phoenix wiU be
from the bench.
