The Pendulum - Dan Ingle unopposed in re-election bid for NC House http://www.elon.edu/penduium/Story.aspx?id=3636 to share and discuss problems with the local legislature. During last year's session, Ingle said he is particularly proud of an amendment on racial profiling which he sponsored. "It was a very simple amendment, but it passed unanimously, meaning folks are listening and I was able to convey what I had to say," he said. In his coming term, Ingle said he plans to focus on five local bills, including a family justice center in Alamance County for victims of domestic violence, which will make their legal process for victims more expedient and safe. He said he will also work to correct disputes over county lines. Ingle said the toughest agenda item the House will focus on is the budget. "Just like every other part of the country, there is no money and we need to start creating jobs," he said. "I am a firm believer that to create jobs, we must decrease taxes for small businesses in order to encourage them to hire more people." In order to decrease taxes, Ingle said certain funds and programs may need to be cut. "When you look at where we're at in terms of the size of government, it's been fine during years of prosperity," he said. "But now that we've seen hard times, we’re going to have to start thinking outside of the box." Ingle said he looks forward to serving and hopes to stay in the position for at least a few terms. "When I look at serving, the seat doesn't belong to me, it belongs to the folks," he said. "If I ever get to the point where I don't believe that, then it's time for me to leave and that's what I'll do." Updated April 7, 2010 4/7/2010 1:29 PM
