Schedule of Events for Undergraduate Commencement Wednesday, May 16 “Salute Your Seniors” Senior Ciass Picnic with Facuity and Staff The Green, 12 p.m. The Elon Alumni Association is hosting a farewell picnic for all graduating members of the senior class with Elon faculty and staff. Senior Gala Moseley Center, 9 p.m. - midnight A senior celebration before weekend ceremonies begin. Admission for graduating seniors is free. Guest tickets are $10. Semi- formal attire suggested. Friday, May 18 ROTC Commissioning Ceremony Holt Chapel, 11 a.m. Dean’s Receptions for Graduates and their Families 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Graduates are invited to bring their families and guests to their academic residence and mingle with faculty in Elon College and the schools of Business, Communications and Education. Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences Lindner Hall Patio (rain location: Lindner Foyer) Martha and Spencer Love School of Business Chandler Fountain/Plaza (rain location: First Floor, Koury Business Center) School of Communications Manfuso Plaza (rain location: Studio B, McEwen Communications Building) Friday, May 18 cont. School of Education Mooney Patio and Lawn (rain location: Curriculum Resource Center, Mooney 111) Baccalaureate Alumni Gym, Koury Athletic Center, 3 p.m. Eton’s Baccalaureate ceremony of celebration for the Class of 2012 and thanksgiving for campus community dedicated to their achievement. The president of American Jewish World Service, Ruth Messinger, will deliver the Baccalaureate sermon, American Jewish World Service is an international development organization that supports human rights for marginalized people around the world. In addition to its grant making to more than 375 grassroots organizations, AJWS works within the American Jewish community to promote global citizenship and social Justice through activism, volunteer service and education. Celebration of Leaders of the Twenty- First Century McCrary Theatre, Center for the Arts, 5 p.m. Graduating Business Fellows, Communications Fellows, Eton College Fellows, Honors Fellows, Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows, Lumen Scholars, Eton Teaching Fellows, and Periclean Scholars will be recognized at a Commencement ceremony that highlights their talents and accomplishments. Overflow seating will be available in Yeager Recital Hall, adjacent to McCrary Theatre. Saturday, May 19 Continental Breakfast on Scott Plaza 7:30-9 a.m. Graduating students, families and guests are invited to a super-sized continental breakfast around Fonville Fountain, The celebration is hosted in the spirit of College Coffee, one of oldest and most appreciated traditions of Eton’s academic year. The popular campus wide event brings faculty, students and staff together in a relaxed atmosphere to build community and forge friendships. Prelude to Commencement 9:15 a.m.. Under the Oaks Families and guests should be seated by this time. Elon University 122nd Commencement 9:30 a.m. The Commencement processional will begin the formal ceremony. Graduates will process from the stage to their seating area. The commencement address will be delivered by Dell executive and Elon alum Steven Schuckenbrock ‘82. President of Dell Services, Schuckenbrock has helped to transform the technology titan into a global business solutions company. Post-Commencement Receptions for Graduates on Scott Plaza Scott Plaza The Elon Alumni Association invites graduates, families and guests to a reception hosted by academic departments around Fonville Fountain immediately following Commencement. Elon Oak saplings and alumni association information packets will be distributed to graduates in front of Powell Building.
