the day of registration and this did away with another difficulty which has previously been a problem. Movies, dances, picnics, and lectures entertain ed the Freshmen the first week. The lectures of the faculty members and student officers v;ere highly commended. Chairman Phipps wishes to thank all the student and faculty members who helped to make the 1962 Orientation an impressive and successful one. Homecoming Committee The theme for Homecoming 1962 is "The Fall of the Indians." Allen T^mdall, Chairman of the Homecoming Committee has everything in full swing to make this home-coming year our most exciting. Mr. Tyndall is aided in his efforijs by four sub-committees; flovrers, Patsy Cole; parade, Don Arey and Bob Stork; displays, Chuck Jackson and Charlie Soininers; dance fiCTire, Jeannie Fiorito. ^ ’ The main attractions of Homecoming begin Friday night, October 19, with a pep rally and chariot race. On Saturday morning, Oct. 20, from 9:00 until 11;30 the displays by various campus organizations will be open for viewing. Also during these hours the Alumni will be visiting the campus. The annual parade down Main Street in Burlington will start at 12:30 in the afternoon. There will be first, second, and third prizes awarded respective ly to the most deserving floats. The Homecoming Committee is plannin.o’ something new this^ year. There will be clowns included in the parade. Str the g^e which conmiences at 2:30 in the afternoon against the Catawba Indians the cheerleaders sold Bronze or White Mums v/ednesday, Thursday, and i everyone bought one since the profits will go into the Student Government Treasury. Free buttons for the boys and ribbons for the girls will be issued before the day of Homecoming. A coffee hour imjnediately following the game will be held on the campus. Homecoming semi-formal dance begins at eight o'clock Satui'day night Included at the dance will be the crowning of thf Homecoming Queen, Duane Powell and the Homecoming Figure. festivities culminate with the Sunday night movie, "v/arlock," which begins at 8:00 p.m. _ ^ Constitutional Revision Committee Committee has not met as of this date. The chairman, Jerry Hollandsworth is planning to resign at the beginning November. Student Affairs Committee The Student Affairs Committee met for the first time this semester on October 12. The following matters were discussed: 1. The extention of exam week so that only one exam would be given on one day. This would involve the revision of the school calendar. A student poll will be taken in the future concerning this subject. 2. The rule concerning "dressing" for dinner on Sunday nights. 3. The idea of sending to prospective students a form explaining the Honor System and the Honor Pledge, which would require the signature of parents and students before acceptance to Elon. A sub-committee will be appointed to work on this. 4. The lowering of the 2.5 requirement for election to "Who's Who". The SA Committee sent a recommendation to the Dean of the College concerning this. 5. The shortening of classes on Homecoming Day. The committee sent a recommendation to the Dean of the College concerning this. Publicity Committee The PC has been divided into two sub—committees: The Poster Committee and the Newsletter Committee. These Sub—committees are vforking in different areas to make students aware of SG activities. x'utus plans include the placement of new bulletin boards in the union and Alamance for the use of only SG and a display containing t)ictures of SG officials.
