The district manager did it would be the only college in the say that ilon would be one of the few - ■ ' C0I'::^^ITT5T^ JE/JS , ; ; Comnunity Relations Committee; - ^ Report by Fred Stephenson,. Chairman First of all, I would like to correct a misprint in cerning the refusal of reduced rates at not say that if Sion got reduced rates, country with this privilege, but he did colleges to have this privilege. At our la.st meeting, the committee was divided into five sub-committees, banquet committee, headed by Bob Young, is to look into the advantages and disadvantages of sponsoring a banquet for influentials in the immediate Elon ColleFe-Burlington vicinity. A work Oomm.ittee is to recruit student •jrolunteers to help work on community projects. A newspaper committee, led by Paul'Huey is to continue looking into the possibilities of a student colum.n in the Burlington papers. A radio committee, headed by Paul Robinson, is to^contin e its work toward establishing an Sion College program.. Lastly, a committee ,of student dpeakers is to accumulate all of the goals and projects of^the Commun ity Relations Comm.ittee and to give talks to various civic and business’ organ izations in Alamance County. ^ , t„4- + In the recent-Student Body Assembly held December 3rd, I brought to you, the students, reports about our radio program and mewspaper column projects. ■\lso' I had a poll sheet'distributed asking questions about our projects. - The resuits have been tallied and show that those, turning in poll sheets definitely desireto ha.ve a stident newspaper column and also believe the (-.ABO investment of Student Governm.ent money for a. tape recorder for radio vrork is worthwhile. Action is being stipped up in those two areas backed by student support. ■ ;/ork Sub-Committee headed by Joseph Cote The purpose of this liork Committee is to recruit workers and find projects which they and others can do. By Working with the people of Burlington, the students of Elon can strengthen their relation? with them. Many students seem to think that Burlington, in the past, has not done enough for Elon; has Elon done for Burlington? I am sure that if a better effort is put forth by the students of Elon in trying to help Burlington, the projects that Elon iR trvine to p-et-them to accept will be received with favor. ^ ^ . The 'floTk committee needs more people to participate in the projects that we-are planning to do. One of these, for example, is getting about twenty people to fix up the home of a needy family. If you feel that you can spare the tLe to help us, please contact Betty Strader, Ann Ruth iiebb, or myself and we will see to it that you are placed on the committee. Food Committee • . . • .
