As a result of primaries held on Friday, Octobe^.lQ, the candidates running are as follows: Don King and Jesse L. Weaver fof‘President; Dennis Wayne Smart, Barbara Berry, and Alfred Pogleman (Teeny) for Vice-President; and Ellen McCauley and Alenia Yasinski for Secretary- .Treasurer. . The'new officers will lead their class during the year ajid will hold positions in the Student Senate. 1 PresMan who were candidates in the primary election were John Nicks, Charles Spears, and Kent Grim for President,, and William Omto and David Dowdy for Vice-President. All of the candidates took part in the campaign which began several weeks ago by placing posters and banners on campus and campaign speeches were de- WELCOp^E 6acK Another year begins and we wel come you back to the pages of THE CAMPUS CRIER. With an almost entire ly new staff this year, Volume II begins with several changes that we hope will be successful. Our new masthead was done by Marty Hogensen, The paper is bulging with new columns as the staff now boasts of hone columnists and includes such all-campus writers as Nancy Butler, editor of the COLONNADES; Sally Mc Duffie, editor of PHI PSI CLI; Bev Powell,.also a literary magazine ed itor; and Bill TiJhittenton, Assistant Editor of the MAROON AND GOLD. Other columnists are Carole Boyle, a cheer leader!, Sy Hall, Chairman of the Liberal Arts Porum, George Cox, and. three anonymous writers. Their ar ticles will be of varied types in cluding commentaries on campus affairs, interviews with outstanding students, and serious discussions. Nancy Butler will head the above gtaff as Feature Editor. Writing for the news section ^ill be Marty Simpson, Sec.-Treas. of the Soph, Class and Freshmen ^ (jlenda Phillips, Dorlo Thomas, and ^ary Cooper. Beth Hoffman and Jean :^own of the Jr. Class will handle committee news. Returning staff members are A1 Baer, cartoonist, and Gail Hettel whc will be Technical Editor. Typists aro Eileen Cobb, Judy Hudson, and Alice Mitchello Sue Perguson will be the proofreader. Elections for five Freshman sen ators will also be held in the near future. At the same time, the Senior and Junior classes will each elect one Senator due to present vacancies. ling for these offices begins today. The girls, named were Janet Faulkner, Karen Fischer, Sue Ferguson, Jane Loy, Boniiie McEvoy, and Carolyn Wright, Nominated from the floor’were Wendy Cowall, Jackie Davis, Kay Jeffries,and I’sgsy Webster, Primary elections for Queen will be held today to select the fiv,e final ists. a final election will be held and the results will not be announced until the day before Homecoming, There will be a court this year of four girls and the Queen, Clubs and other groups on campus will elect sponsors to represent them in Homecoming festivities.
