(LETTERS—contiuned) Dear Editor; I wish to thank all of the ,people on campus who. have worked so long and hard with me on the recent College Bowl games. In particular I would like to congratulate the team members—Larry Biddle, Bill Blomgerg, Don Johnson, John Jones, and Tom Page. They have shown that amazing spirit of co-opera tion, workmanship, and sportsmanship which comes with real interest and ef^ fort. A chairman always hopes for the best and I have been fortunate in having a team such as this with which to work. They IRE the best! - Many of you, I am sure, do not realize the back-of-the-scenes story in volved. Due to a few complications and lack of participation, we got started l^te and were left a day before our first match without a team. I had a list ot "possible candidates" and after talking to as many as I could, these boys consented to represent Elon in the match with LR on the following day. They were un-oriented to the program. We had a few rules which were quite neb ulous, only a general idea of the scheme of things, and iio time for review. Blit we did have something more important that that—willingness to go ahead aiid TRY. And try we did. ¥e came out in the first contest quite a few points behind, but with even more determination to "bring home bear meat." ’ Before the second contest,, the team reviewed and practiced. Result—a spore of 185 in the second match, which was the highest score made in both of the two matches. I am proud. SGA is proud. And the student body has a right to be proud ol* this team. They have co-operated with enthusiasm and interest and deserve mvich credit and recognition. Eldn College-owes 0.11'of them a great many thanks and a great deal of respect. Also, I wish to thank the boys from the physics lab who set up the buzzer- bell system used in the game. '■ Sincerely, Valerie Spangler Elon College Bowl Co-ordinator Editor Feature Editor..
