fore, I propose to bring the diversion to him. Take a number of these self-propelled cans and to each one, rig up a blinking light. Also install on each machine a fully automatic atomizer full of Chanel No* 5 perfume. During exams, turn these machines loose in the dormitories, late at night, when the studying is the hardest and the morale is the lowest. All you need is one machine to each floor. These machines will rumble into each room, let out a quick puff of perfume, and blink its light serveral times. It will then go out the door again and into another room. That is all it does. That is the diversion. It just rolls around ‘spreading sweetness and light. n Uil If you could not answer the questions on a test and it would be easy to look on you neighbor's paper with little chance of being caught, would you cheat? If you knew that you had to make a good grade on an exam to pass a Course and a classmate offered to sell you a stolen exam, would you buy it? If you saw a friend cheating on any honor work or knew that he had stolen or lied', ' would you turn him in? The wrong action with any of the above questions is an enfraction of the pledge that each of us takes upon becoming students of Elon College. The pledge states that, we "accept and agree to abide by the Hoaor System " This pledge is found on the inside cover of the Handbook. There is also found the Honor System; "Under the Honor System, you are on your honor not to cheat, steal or lie, and if,you see another student doing so, you are on your honor td report him to the Honor Court." The fallacy in our system would appear to be "and if you see an other student doing so, you are on your honor to report him." Maybe it's a case of mistaken loyalty, honor among thieves or who knows what. Human nature is a complicated thing. When you see another student break ing the honor code, friend or no friend, remember that he is cheating you, the school, and himself. If everyone did his part in upholding the honor code, the Elon Campus would have an effective honor system and not a farce 1 There seems to be enough c^it^cism flying around on the campus these days. It is a real shame t|iat these people do nothing but talk. With a little action ifor every complaint we'd have a much more active student body. ...
