Do you foresee.any points of friction between the SGA and administration? It seems that there have been points of friction in the last year and I don't foresee any great change in that. Hopefully, the administration will see things more as the students see them and try more to help them and no': try to ii’iipress ’ the world at‘largo in in'.provemenfs in tangible^, things. The intarigJ51o c.spect O'f ’ducation is most important. What is the Vice-President's function? The Vice-President presides at Senate meetings, sees that they are carried out well and to take over in the event the President is incapacitated. I also think it is his duty to appoint committees subsidiary to him and to investigate those areas in the SGA which he feels merit investigation. The government as set up now has apparently no check and balance system because the Vice-President hasn't the power to investigate the executive or honor court branch. The chief executive is the only one who has this power and I think it should be extended to the Vice-President. If elected, I will try to have this done. The executive branch, in all equity, can be wrong and need investigation as well as any other branch. In closing, I feel the SGA must keep working for a better Elon. I would hate to see this year's progress end this year. C. V. MAY Why do you wnat to run for this particular office? To me, this office is the most important of the SGA offices. It has to be representative of dignity, honor, and a knowledge of SGA procedures. I believe that I can handle this office as it should be handled. Also, the SGA President must see and understand the needs of the students. I have my own convictions as to what should be done; however, if I am elected, I will be the representative of the student and my convictions will be usecj ^ factor in deciding what should be presented and not in censQring * the opinion of the students. ' What suggestions do you have regarding the SGA in general and more specificall regarding the office for v;hich you have filed as a candidate? There are several suggestions. One is concerned with this problem of lack of • To prescribe exactly how this problem will be overcome ^ould be too idealistic right now. One of my major aims in this office would be to relieve this lack of communications. Also, there is a span of *3ifference between the dormitory and the commuter student. I believe that something should be done to draw the dormitory and the commuter studerjt closer toget?ier. This will be one problem that, if solved, will tsnd to reduce the general apathy and complacency of the student body.
