by the Editors Pardon us for being journalistic right away, but we have long been aware of the sad fact that the Campus Crier has no definite editorial policy... or any other policy, for that matter. This situation hasn’t bothered most of our readers, but it has led some writers to believe they can have any thing printed in the Crier. In order to correct this misconception, we now offer the following statement of policies: "Oh, yes," says the reader, "you defend Motherhood and the American flagi" No, we leave that to the Maroon and Gold. Because we are a student gov ernment pxjblication, our policy is to provide an outlet for student opinions and ideas, even if they conflict with those of the administration or the . faculty-# " Unfortunately, in past years the Crier has projected a negative image. As one person told usr "i hate to read it because it*s always complaining about something." This criticism is valid, but the image will * be hard to change—happy and contented students usually won't bother to v;rite for the Crier. However, we will always accept student complaints if they are intelligent and justifiable. And there is always room in the for an informal essay or humorous article, if they are in good taste. VARIETY will be the key word for future issues, with more features appeal ing (we hope) to a wider audience. We'll do whatever possible to improve the Campus Crier, but we must depend on student contributions. In other words, the Crier can be as good as YOU want it to be. ******** A WORD ABOUT HOMECOMING: For those poor souls who complain about the lack of beautiful girls on campus, we offer next week's special election; for Homecoming Queen as proof to the contrary. Besides being the only election around here which arouses any interest, it serves to remind us that Elon - is definitely not second-rate in the Pretty Girl department. We hope that the Board of Elections counts the ballots more accurately than they did last year, when one position on the Queen's Court was awarded to the wrong contestant through a miscount.
