M/ Mo'DEsr ■pRoposflL 1-0 THf Late in September we students took up res idence at Elon College. Because the opening of school was delayed a week, we felt that maybe for a change all accomodations would be complete — the Establishment fooled us again. If you have visited the new dormitory com plex, barely within the city limits, you have noticed a certain air of stagnation about it. We have a non - active spring under a nearly empty lake, a non - existent television (even though we have an antenna), several non - ex istent telephones, a non - existent cafeteria (but maybe Horton's roaches just haven't moved in), sparce furniture, untrimmed carpets, and an unpaved mud or dust hole for a parking lot. We do have in our favor, however, an envigor— ating quarter mile walk to the nearest pay phone; a sidewalk that leads half way to the campus proper (well, 50% is better than noth ing) ; our own mail service every day, or every other day, or whenever it's delivered; and locks on every door except those doors attach ed to our rooms. For all of those little "ex tras" we pay only $155 a semester; whereas the students who do not share our "advantages" pay only ? My modest proposal to the Establishment is that this money which we, the students of the new dormitory complex, are paying in excess of the other dorms be refunded to us as we have paid for conditions that do not exist. This money could be returned to us directly, or be taken out of next semester's tuition. I'm 6
