Schedule
Fayetteville State College track
team is currently preparing for its
1966 season which officially opens
Tuesday, March 22, at Fayetteville.
Coach Harold L. Scott is optimistic
regarding the team’s prospect for
the season, saying: “Though only
10 veterans remain from last year’s
cinder crop, the Broncos’ track out
look is bright.” Returning will be
William Conway who placed third
in 880 yard in last season’s CIAA
championship meet. Other return
ing veterans include sprinters How
ard Hopkins, James Gardin, Ric
ardo Brown, James Moore and
Henry Solomon; distance runners
Walter Murphy and James Keys;
and quarter milers Delano Dubin-
son and George Sherman. Each of
the veterans should improve in this
year’s competition.
“This year’s group of newcomers
looks more promising than any
group to come before them. If they
can live up to expectations, our
team performance will definitely
improve,” Coach Scott predicts.
Among the newcomers are sprin
ters Wilson Jackson, Wendell
Smith, Jerry Bell, Harry Bennett,
and Jesse Greene; broad
jumpers Henry Terrell and
Charles Baker; triple jumper
Henry Terrell; half milers Edward
Winfield and Frank Williamson;
quarter milers Farris Fulford, Os
car Scott and Ralph Falwell; weight-
men Ricardo Dickson and Windell
Hicks; milers Sidney Williams
and Franklin Reaves.
Howard Hopkins and Delano Dub-
inson are the co-captains of Fay
etteville State’s 1966 outdoor track
team. Hopkins, a junior majoring
in physical education, is a graduate
of Berry O’Kelly in Raleigh, N. C.
Di’binson, also a junior and major-
in" in mathematics, is a graduate
of Boys High in Brooklyn, N. Y.
We are expecting them to carry
the team through another eventful
season.
Tennis Outlook
Coach Page Saunders and his net-
ters are looldng forward to a suc
cessful tennis season this year. The
team of last year had a 5-6 won-
lost record.
Returning players from that team
include Wilbert Wilson, a senior
from Washington, D. C.; William
Westfield, a senior from Orange,
N. J.; and Wesley Allen, a senior
from Fayetteville. Coach Saunders
expects some additional netters for
the upcoming season. The veterans
of last year and the additional
players this year are sure to be in
the running for CIAA honors.

Baseball ??
Yes, Fayetteville State College
will field a baseball team this sea
son. Inexperience will plague Coach
Robin.son again. A number of boys
from last year’s team are not back
for this season. A large percentage
of the team will be composed of
freshmen. The success of the team
will depend upon these neophytes.
Let’s look forward to a success
ful team. Come out and support
the Broncos, win or lose.
