FSU’s 5-YR. GROWTH PLAN CITED Fayetteville State wants to expand into graduate work in eight fields and make Fort Bragg’s campus a full-fledged unit within the University of North Carolina System. More than 30 new undergraduate programs, according to the Five Year Plan, are proposed for full implementation by 1980. The programs would include nursing, broadcasting, journalism, computer science, corrections, special education, recreation education, geography, environmental education, speech pathology and audiology and several language and science programs. Proposed graduate programs include master of science degrees in biology, math, computer science, business administration, business education, education and counseling and guidance and a master of arts degree in music. The proposal to include the Ft. Bragg campus as a regular unit of the main campus was recommended so that tuition rates on the Ft. Bragg campus could be brought into line with those charged on the main campus. The plan also proposes construction of a new instructional facility on Ft. Bragg. The plan cites a similar facility constructed at Fort Hood, Texas. The total cost of a proposed university center on the Ft. Bragg campus is estimated at $1 million. Although the plan commits FSU to recruit more nonblack students, the plan clearly states that the university will continue “to perform its historic mission of providing higher education services to the black, the disadvantaged and the dispossessed.” ^OICE fSu DECEMBER 17, 1974 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C VOLUME 29 NUMBER V m SHE’S A SMARTY - Fayetteville State University (N.
