X-Rated Drama
The River Niger’
Presented at FSU
'The River Niger," a
drama written by Joseph
Walker about a Black
family in New York, is
scheduled to be presented
November 11-16, 1980 on
FSU's campus at 8:00 p.m.
each night.
Elliott Moffitt, FSU’s
Drama Guild Director, and
the relatively inexperienced
cast, are looking forward to
giving the audience per
formances that they will
want to pay twice to see.
Moffitt states that the
play has "language that is

extremely rough, X-rated."
However, he feels that this
is so because most of the
play deals with life the way
it is and ordinarily things
that are said in private
wouldn't be said in the
streets. It's an exciting
play. Lots of violence, sex,
laughter, and love. It runs
the gamut of human emo
tions," he said.
Even with the violence,
sex, and all, Moffitt expects
the play to be well received
by the FSU students pri
marily because it deals
with what most of them can

Dr. John Wolfe, Jr.,

said, "I hope people that
view the play will do so with
an open mind." He feels
that they should not take
the words solely of the
person that has seen it, but
instead come and view the
presentation and then be
an objective judge. He
expects some negative

the play is so powerful.

In the mid to late 70’s
there were a lot of movies
made by Blacks. One movie
was titled “Big Time” which
starred the lovely Jayne
Kennedy and a young man
that has been in the back
ground of a lot of produc
tions, Christopher Joy . The
movie “Big Time” was writ
ten by Joy who says that
the purpose of the movie
was to supply entertainment
for the whole family.
During the filming of
the movie Christopher says
that a religious change
came into his life and he
has become one of the
growing number of enter
tainers that are born again
Christians. In a recent
tel'ephone interview,
Christopher said, "At the
moment I am directing a
play here in Los Angeles
called "Save the Whales." I
am also planning to do a
documentary about prison
inmates and their involve
