P. T. L. Rock (Pierre T.
Leonidas) and his deejay Spin
Master K. (Kenneth Johnson)
are S.MA.S.S.H. (“Suckers
Move and Suckers Suffer
Hurt!") - a super dynamic New
York duo, who plan to take the
world of Hip Hop by storm with
their “pulsating’, hip-swaying’
and sho’ nuff def beats and
rhymes”. S.M.A.S.S.H. has
reason to rejoice because they

superstardom when their

is released in early October on
8th Street Records.
The road to landing a
record deal was anything but
easy for S.MA.S.S.H. Like
many rap artists they
discovered that just going into
a studio and laying tracks fora
demo tape was not enough.
S.MAS.S.H. soon faced the
grime reality that in shopping
their tape for a deal that they
were competing with hund
reds of other artists. It was
hard for them to even get an
appointment with record
company executives but when
they persisted they were
quickly ushered in and out -
with no assurance that their
tape was even listened to.
S.MAS.S.H.s lucky break
came in a strange way. One day
after they had completely
exhausted themselves shop
ping their tape with several
Manhattan record labels they
decided to stop at McDonald s
on Broadway for a quick bite to
eat. While there they noticed a
well dressed man enter with
several records under his arm.
Nervously they approached
him and asked if he worked for
a record company. They were
surprised that the man did not
work for record company but
was, in fact, president of a
record label. Michael Logan,
who is affection-ately known
throughout the music
industry' as Mighty Mike, was
the man. After listening to
S.MAS.S.H.’s material Mighty
Mike was eager to sign them to
a recording contract on his 8th
Street Records label.

had Education 310: Founda

perhaps the most unique of all
received was Chris Carson’s

the foregoing sentence has
managed to whet your
appetite, read on and gorge
yourself on the following
cerebral feast.

Freedom of Choice
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix in
the 2 cups of traditional
Essentialism and 1/2 cup of
basic Realism into a saucepan,
heat at medium high for 3 to 4
minutes, then evenly add 1/2
cup Idealism and 1 tablespoon
Perennialism to avoid a bland
conservation taste. Most
modern chefs prefer a liberal
spicy accent in their dish,
therefore, after the mixture
thickens, add the 1/2 teaspoon
of Pragmatism, a pinch of
Progressivism, 1/2 teaspoon of
Social Reconstructionism,
and a dash of Existentialism.
Pour contents into a casserole
bowl, heat in the oven of
philosophical analysis for 35

should provide a side dish
solidly formed in the basic,
fairly blended with traditional
tastes, yet lightly accented
with liberal spices.
