Such is the legacy of Fayetteville State Univer sity.,, These are the words of Chancellor- elect Willis B. McLeod. Dr. McLeod, the first alumnus to lead FSU, gradu ated from the institution in 1964 with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. President of the sixteen-campus Uni versity of North Carolina, C.D. Span^, Jr., pre sented D r . Presently, he serves as Su perintendent of the Richland County School District One, Columbia, South Carolina. As chief administrator, he supervises the total education program for more than 26,000 students. In an infomial luncheon which included Dr. Glenna Sexton, Acting Vice-chancel lor for Student Affairs; Dr. Harry Ghee, Acting Vice-chancellor for Business and Finance; Wayne Hodges, SGA President; and a group of student leaders. Dr. McLeod voiced his excite ment over interacting with the smaller number of students (approximately 4,000) here at Fayetteville State. see McLeod, page 20 FSU Crowns Homecoming Queen by Jaime Cruz-Morales One of the cornerstones of Fayetteville State’s homecoming ac tivities is the crowning of the Home coming Queen, who presides over the remainder of the Homecoming activi ties. On the night of October 19, Latonya McNeill was crowned as the Matriarch of Homecoming ’95. The theme of the 1995 Coronation Ball was “Love Cruise,,. In accordance with this theme, a stage was built in the shape of a cruise ship deck, where the queens and escorts could display their beauty and charm. Vocal perfor mances were provided as intermissions between the introductions. As the night lengthened, the crowd became anxious for the crowning of the new queen. Their patience was duly rewarded as Mr. Ricardo Morgan an nounced Latonya McNeill as the new Homecoming Queen.
