PAGE 2 WAYNE COMMUNITY COLLEGE May 27, 1969 _SS 1— LETTERS TO THE ED I TOR Dear Editor: I think the school paper has several good and several bad points. It doesn’t have enough pages, it doesn't have enough topics that would be of interest to students on campus, and it should have more pictures. I think some of the topics that would be of interest to students would be want-adds,sports items, fashions, etc. Items for women could be a gossip column and a horoscope section. On the other hand, I think the material that is covered in the paper, such as teacher of the month, sports, student of the month, and what is happening in the library, is very interesting. Dear Editor: I find it difficult, indeed,to formulate my parting words to you and the newspaper staff members of our school; nevertheless, I feel a personal obligation to thank each of you for the effort you have put forth for the purpose of strengthening and encouraging fellowship among the students here at Wayne Community College. I'm sure that everyone that you and the members of the newspaper staff should be highly commended for your combined efforts. Appreciatively, ^ . Lula E. Best Dear Editor: You asked me to write a letter to you, expressing my likes and dislikes about the college. Basically, I like everything about WCC except one thing: the way the student lounge looks at the end of the day. In my opinion, it looks so bad that I wouldn't blame President Erwin if he decided to close it again. The lounge is there for the students' use. It is not there for people to go in and throw drink cups, milk containers, or cigarette packs on the floor. The trash that is picked up is nearly enough to fill the four or five trash cans in the lounge that should have been used in the first place. The school is now in the process of raising money for a new student union. What good is a new student union if we, the students, cannot keep the one we have clean? I have even heard students ask, "What good is a new student lounge to us if we are not here to use it?" The new lounge will be built in the future, and I don't blame students fornot wanting to contribute to something they won't use. But won't it be nice to walk up to somebody one day and say, "I helped in the drive for a new student lounge at WCC"? As students, let's stop and think for a minute. If we can't keep the lounge we have clean, will we be able to keep the new one clean? Think about it. Sincerely, Johnny Lisk
