DARLENE ORMOND
I would like to take this opportunity to
thank the students at WCC who have elected
me as SGA treasurer. I will do my best to
fulfill the duties of this office, to represent
and help lead the students at WCC. The
success of WCC depends on the students and
their leaders, with the assistance and guid

and has come a long way since it was found

toward obtaining its potential. This can only
be done with cooperation, assistance, inter
est and dedicated work. Thank you.

A Message from Retiring SGA
President Mike Powell
As we near the close of the 1969-70 school
year, things are in a rush everywhere for the
Sophomores planning on graduating in June.
There are projects, term papers, and annual,
reports to be touched up on and the final
closing lines added. However, with all this
“hustle and bustle" the SGA is still on its
toes.
The week of the 20th of April the Student
Union Committee met for the las time to ap
prove and make necessary changes for tlie
new Student Lounge. Also at this meeting the
Committee received the approval from the
SGA to donate a plaque in dedication to the
1969-70 classes of WCC for the Fund Raising
Drive for the Student Lounge. This plaque
will be in the trophy case located in the new
Student Lounge.
There was the monthly meeting of the
SGA on the 4th of May at 5:00 p.m. at which
the new SGA officers for the 1970-71 year
were introduced. Also the following day,
April 5th at 7:00 p.m., the SGA sponsored a
dinner for the new officers and they were
formally sworn in.
Things are not dead yet on campus. With
the help of Mrs. Cox and Paula Anderson,
Chairman of the Activities Committee, we
have made possible one last grand finale of
the year that was held on May 21st from 8-12
at the Wayne Center. Featured was none oth
er than the recording artist Mr. Clifford Cur
ry backed up by one ofour own locs^l bands,
“The Advengers.” Everyone was welcome.
At this time I would like to extend my

who voted for me in the past election for
Vice President of the Student Government
Association. I will do my best to carry out this
office with its many responsibilities in a con

Association is the main link between the stu

through the coming year, the other officers
and I will be able to strengthen this link and
truly work for what the students of Wayne
Community College want.

Student Union Progress Report
Construction of the new student union

approved by the college officials and mem

submitted on May 14. Work should begin
soon afterward and hopefully the facilities will
be ready for student activities by the begin
ning of Winter Quarter, 1970-71.
many thanks to the staff, faculty, and last but
not least the students that have helped me
while I held this office. Toqether we have
made WCC a better school. Without the help
from these extraordinary students the SGA
would not have been able to carry on this
year in a successful manner. I realize that
there is a lot of room for improvement in the
SGA, but I am proud to be able to say that
I took an active part in opening some of the
doors of the expanding college.
Good luck to the new officers and I only
hope that they enjoy it half as much as I have.
