SGA President, Jerry Lee Kornegay’s first message to WCC students. “I ran for SGA President so that I might represent the students in the ways in which I feel they should be represented. I feel there is more to the position of SGA President than organizing dances and other activities. 1 feel that it is time that students unite and become more active in the operations of the college. With your support, I feel that we, the students, can become an intricate part of Wayne Com munity College.” Second in command is Vice President Jim Bahen. “The reasons I chose to run for the office of SGA Vice President are two fold. After having only been a student at WCC for three quarters I can see there is a gap between the students and the SGA. The SGA can be and is a powerful organization on campus. I feel that with good representation by the officers and the representatives we can bridge this gap between the students and the SGA. My second reason is merely to satisfy my own personal desires to become involved.” Next is Sandy Mitchell, SGA Secretary. “Because of interest in the school, and the student l)ody I decided to run for Secretary of the Student Government Association. I will always endeavor to do my very best while serving all WCC students. My foremost interest is to represent all student wishes.” The official bookkeeper is Debbie Evans. “I ran for the office of treasurer of the SGA because I felt that through this office I could help to better my school. I want to be a tool by which the students of WCC can have a voice in their school and its operation. I shall try to fulfill this office’s responsibilities to the students’ satisfaction, but I need your support to do this.”. Quickies Girls, how would you like to become a flower bunny and make a little extra cash on the side? If nothing else, it would be a good hobby. Well, if you think that you have any talent and will practice to become ef ficient, then you might qualify. (To be continued on page 4) FLOWER BUNNIES OF WCC What is a flower bunny? These are the young ladies who attend the flower arrangement class every Tuesday and Thursday night. In this class students learn eight basic principles which are used in making flower arrangements. These principles are: 1. Color-Blending of different shades and tints in the same color family. 2. Scale-Scale is the size relationship of the different parts of an arrangement. 3. Balance-The arrangement of flowers so they will not topple. 4. Focus-The center of in terest. 5. Texture-More than over all surface smoothness or roughness. 6. Rhythm-A smooth flow oi color. 7. Harmony-The total har monious effect of the entire arrangement. 8. Design-The over all ap pearance or composition. There are a lot of little things one can pick up in this class that can save money. Flower arranging is inexpensive and no matter what arrangement planned, a truly beautiful creation can be the result.— Rober Wayne Best. THE APPLE TREE Two acts of the WCC musical The Apple Tree were per formed at Eastern Wayne High School March ^ for juniors and seniors. “The Lady or the Tiger” and “Passionella” (acts II and II) were chosen by the high school because, together, they would fit neatly into an assembly. Roundtable Will Listen to You To err is human. To complain also is human. Now is the time to sort out complaints, deter mine which of them can be reworked into practical con structive criticism, and to expose these criticisms to the college population of all levels via the Round-table meetings. The faculty and ad ministration are to be com mended for exposing them selves to a demanding task ahead. They are exposing their egos, too, to the inescapable fact of room for growth. The students are to be motivated to initiative. This is a rare opportunity for the student to participate directly in the development of an already fine and ever improving institute for higher learning.
