Sociology Class Project Grows
Students of WCC have been
walking around the campus
sinc6 the fall complaining about
the way it looks. A group of
students in a sociology class
have decided to do something
about it. They are going to
beautify the campus, beginning
with the area between the
Student Union and “F”
building. A survey was taken by
Dianne Casey and her com
mittee to see how many
students were interested and
willing to help. Everyone
thought it was a great idea and
agr^ that the students could
get the job done. So, they are
doing something about it!
Plants, bulbs, shrubs, and trees
have been planted in front of
“C” building. These were
collected by students and
donated by interested citizens in
the community. The jungle
between the Student Union and
“F” building has been cleared
and fill has bmn brought in by a
landscaping company which
has temporarily slowed up the
group.
Acbninistration is backing the
project. Dean Waller; Carl Cox,
Business Manager; Donald
Robbins, Assistant Dean of
Instruction; Dr. Jan Crawford,
Administrative Assistant; and
Raymond Perry, Maintenance
Supervisor, have given their
time and support. The Bison
Club, Forestry Club, Sigma Tau
Sigma, and SGA have been
cooperative and helpful.
Landscaping plans were
turned in by Roy Colquitt, Mike
Pate, Wayne Peterson, Mrs. Sid
Gordon, and Mike Hanville.
Larry Usry and James Holmes
coor^nated the ideas from
these plans into a single plan
which has been approv^ by the
students and the ad
ministration.
Within the next few days,
walkways and a patio will be
staked off; and hopefully, grass
will be planted before the end of
quarter break. The group needs
help of other students with work
on Saturdays.
Committees who will be in
charge of the continuing project
are: Class Advisor: Mrs. Nina
Powell, Coordinator: Mike
Hanville; Assit. Coordinator:
Larry Usry, Dianne Casey;
Interaction: Diane Butler, Faye
Garner;
