Photo; Brian Daniels By; Ronald Lane Jamie Pate, Student Activities Coordinator and Student Government Associa tion advisor at Uayne Com munity College -for two and one-haH years, -finished her last day on October 5, 1990. Pate, a 1988 graduate o-f Mount Olive College with a B.S. in Recreation, will be program director -for Parks and Recreation in Smith- •field starting October 15, 1990 . Her activities at WCC included establishing intramural sports, coaching volley-ball, counseling students, and helping the SGA in programming and schedu1ing events throughout the year. Tamra Ren-frow, Financial Aid assistant said about Pate-'s leaving, "It is a wise choice -for her career, but 1 hate to see her 1 eave.“ A -former student Annette Barnes said, "The campus will not be the same wi thout her." According to Yvonne Goodman, Director o-f Per sonnel, the position is -frozen until a later date because o-f state budget cutbacks. ^ the: K/oi CE ^ X NEEDS YOU! The -food, distributed through United Church Ministries o-f Wayne County, is surplus -frorn the United States Department o-f Agr i culture. Students worked two days at Victory Faith Center on South George Street, separating the -food -for distribution into bags local grocery stores donated. The -food is to be distributed to lew income •families registered with United Church Ministries. According to Wilbur Kau-f-f, Aviation Department instructor, the students •filled over 2000 bags with groceries between 8:30 and 11;30 on their -first day o-f work. Many of the' students stayed late into the afternoon to work. According to Derek Eubanks, aviation student, students will have to make up class time missed.
