On October 1 at 6:00
p.m. WCC faculty and staff
took a trip to the SO's for
the Foundation's 1990 fund
raiser kick-off.
The event, held in the
Lecture Hall on the North
Campus, was organized by
Annette Hawkins, Foundation
Campus Fund Drive chair and
instructor in the Math
Department.
Peggy Womble and Betty
Jo Slozak, both of the Math
Department, assisted her.
Phil Baddour Jr., Board
of Trustees member, was
master of ceremonies.
Ralph Leach, Director of
Applied and Mechanical
Studies Division, carried
the audience on a journey
through thirty years at
WCC.
Following his presenta
tion, two groups competed
in a hoola hoop contest.
Winners were Ken Neal,
Chair of the Business
Department and Kay Bradley,
Executive Secretary.
“A Stone's Throw," a
local band, provided music
from the 50's.
The Do Wahs began the
1ip sync contest by
performing "Leader of the
Pack" which featured Dr.
Herman Porter, President of
WCC, on a scooter.
Bill Thompson, Director
of Planning Research, and
Mike Futrell, Audiovisual
Specialist, serenaded Jamie
Pate, Student Activities
Coordinator, and Kay
Bradley with "You've Lost
that Lovi^n" Feeling."
Everyone "twisted again*
with Roy White, Director of
Continuing Education, and
other members of the Con
tinuing Education Depart
ment.
The Shirells,
consisting of Lynda Bundy,
Secretary in the Applied
and Mechanical Studies
Division; Faye Best,
instructor in the
Automotive Technology
Department; and Frances
Allen, Secretary,
Curriculum programs, sang
"Soldier Boy" to Futrell.
The Middle Aged Kids on
the Block, featuring Leo
Taswell, Plant Superin
tendent; P.A. Best, Dean
of Human Development
Services; Thompson and
Futrell, rendered "Under
the Boardwalk."
This group also won the
contest.
Linwood Anderson, Vice
President for Educational
Support Services, gave a
speech after which Dr. Ned
Sauls, instructor in the
Human Services Department,
asked the blessing.
The Campus Fund Drive
solicits pledges trorr^
faculty and staff while the
community fund drive
involves residents in Wayne
County.
To date, the Foundation
Fund Drives have raised
^63,741.83 toward a
$100,000 goal for 1990-91.
