Photo: Ronald Lane Thompson heads program review By: Ronald Lane In March 1991 the Wayne Community College Alumni Association met in the North Campbs Atrium to reorganize, according the group's -first newsletter. Taylor, now the Assistant Superintendent o-f the Wayne County School System, believes that by being a part o-f the Alumni Association, he can give back a little o-f what he received -from WCC. Jerry Kornegay, Director o-f Student Activities and Recruiting, serves as liaison -for the group. Membership, now standing at 43 alumni, consists o-f three types: Membersh i p: open to any -former student o-f WCC who has completed a minimum o-f 48 quarter hours in a curriculum program and who has le-ft the college o-f his/her own accord. Assoc i ate Membersh i p; open to non-graduates who have taken one or more credit or non-credit courses. Associate members shall be deemed non-voting members o-f the Association. Honorary Membersh i p; open to any individual instructor, administrator, citizen or trustee who has rendered service to WCC. Honorary members shall be deemed non-voting members o-f the Association. Center St. Goldsboro 734-5061 By: Ronald Lane Bill Thompson, Director o-f Planning and Research under the Title III grant, will coordinate program review, a 4-year process that involves looking at the past, present, and -future o-f academic li-fe at WCC. The Program Review Corranittee, along with Thompson, consists o+ Division Directors Ralph Leach, Applied and Mech anical Studies, and Ronald Taylor, Health and Science; Miriam Wessel1, Chairman Liberal Arts Department; and Carolyn Walston, Continuing Education. The committee surveyed local businesses which hire graduates -from WCC. The surveys will be used to determine needed changes in programs. The cormnittee will look at all 19 programs o-ffered at WCC. The committee, which the President appointed, has the responsibilities o-f -facilitating, monitoring, and validating the reviews of the programs they are being achieved. Thompson, employed at WCC -for 1 year, holds a -full-time temporary position, up -for review annual 1y. Be-fore coming to WCC Thompson served 25 years in the Air Force as a person nel o-f-ficer. His received a master's degree in management -from Western University, St. Louis, Missouri, and a bachelor's degree in occupational education -from South II1inois. His has a wi-fe Gayle, an older daughter Stacey, married to Jim Cha-f-fin, who has just returned -from Saudia Arabia, and a grandson Jimmy Jr. His youngest daughter Tonya attends WCC.
