18 WCC CAMPUS VOICE - MAY 20,1992 New employees join WCC staff By TRELVIA HODGES Dur i ng uii nter quarter several new employees Joined the staff at Ulayne Community College. Yolanda Faison, Admissions secretary on the North Campus, began working on February 12, 1992. She wi11 graduate from UlCC on May 26 with an associate degree in Administrative Office Technology, Her duties include scheduling people for appointments, sending letters, and other secretarial duties. Faison presently resides in Dudley N.C. Faison was also a work study student in the registrar's office. She describes the staff at UCC as being very friendly. Another new worker Ann Peacock, is a 26- year-old married mother of 2. Peacock began working in the Financial Aid office on January 27, 1992. Peacock, also a former student at UlCC, was a work study student in V*eteran Affairs and later in Financial Aid. Her responsibilities include answering the phone, greeting the pubii c, and other secretarial duties. She works for Yvonne Goodman and Jerry Kornegay. Peacock was formerly employed at Excel 1 Li nde i n Goldsboro. Born and raised in Lenoir County, she resides in the Rosewood area. She graduated from WCC in 1991 wi th a degree in accounting, and she will be attending Mount Olive College in the summer. Joy 6i nn, new Executive secretary in the President's office at the North Campus, graduated from Sampson Community College. She received a degree in General Office Technology in 1982. Ginn also worked in the Financial Aid office at Sampson for 5 years prior to coming to UCC. Kimberly Armstrong, another of WCC's new employees, works part- time in A Bui1ding on the South Campus. Armstrong assists col 1ege transfer students with their plans to attend four- year schools. She also helps to plan social and cultural events, such as trips to different un i versi t i es. She aids Jerry Kornegay, Director of Student Activities and Recru i t i ng, in preparing students for future endeavors. The program supports the college transfer program at UJCC. Prior to coming to UCC Armstrong attended Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psycho!ogy. Armstrong was also a graduate from UCC in 1987. She received her Associate of Applied Science degree in November of 1987. Born and raised in Uayne County, she now lives in Mount Olive. She began her employment at UCC on September 16, 1991. She said, "Uhat 1 like most about my Job is the students and the attitude the students have about academics. They also have the desire to excell as far as accomplishing their goal s."
