New SGA officers bring
varied experience
John Moses, Vice President

At SGA elections
held during Spring
Fling on April 18 at
WCC, students voted in
the following new
officers: Eric O'Neil,
president; John Moses,
vice president; and
Julie Heath, secretary.
While O'Neil and
Heath were unopposed,
Doug White in the
Recreation Grounds
Management Program ran
against Moses for the
Vice President post.
Born in Clayton, NC,
O'Neil graduated from
Clayton High School in
1991. After graduation
O'Neil attended UNC-
Charlotte.
He is in the
Forestry Management
Technology Curriculum.
O'Neil's goals as
SGA president include
more free Y passes and
more scholarships for
WCC students.
He would like a
parking sticker valid
for 2 years and a club
meeting period once a
month.
O'Neil, a member of
Phi Theta Kappa and the
Outdoor Club,
participated in
leadership classes at
the fall and winter
N4CSGA conference.
John Moses from
Goldsboro attended
Goldsboro High School,
graduating in 1995.
Moses, a college
transfer student, plans
to pursue a master's
degree in music at the
Berkley School of Music
in Boston, MA.
Moses.has been
active in SGA since he
entered WCC. He said,
"SGA offers great ways
for self improvement
and gives students the
opportunity to meet new
people and to improve
their communication and
public relations
skills."
A work study student
in The Literacy Center,
Moses enjoys music,
basketball, and travel,
Julie Heath, born in
Orlando, Florida,
graduated from East
Duplin High School in
Beulaville, NC, in
1979.
During her youth
Heath traveled
extensively as part of
her family's mission to
build churches.
Heath, currently in
the college transfer
program, plans to
pursue a teaching
career. She said, "The
teachers I've had here
at WCC have been a very
good example for me."
Heath is married and
the mother of 4
children--Jennifer, 14;
Jamie, 12; Jessica, 10;
and Jeremy, 6.
After high school
Heath attended Rick's
College in Rexburg,
Idaho.
WCC SGA leaders gain state offices

Two WCC students won
statewide positions at
the recent North
Carolina Community
College Conference of
Student Government
Associations (N4CSGA).
Hiriam Grady was
elected as statewide
SGA president, and Eric
O'Neil was named
Eastern Division Chair.
Grady's duties
include presiding over
fall and spring
conferences, appointing
committees, presiding
at conference business
meeting and meetings of
the executive board,
and acting with the
Advisory Council
concerning disciplinary
or emergency
situations.
O'Neil represents 22
schools in the eastern
region, addressing
issues and concerns
they bring to the
attention of N4CSGA.
He will solicit,
research, and document
issues of statewide
concern.
