The focus of this day was to help the officers to get to know each other and to acquire leadership skills. On Friday, October 26 SGA hired Starflix video, a professional video production company, to film students as they performed lip syncing, dancing and playing musical instruments such as guitars, keyboards, and drums. Students gathered in the student union from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. as the production went on. They gave away 45 videos, for free, with 135 student participants. As well has having Starflix entertainment SGA kept the students content by having Papa John’s pizza deliver lunch to the school. According to Parson, about 500 students had pizza and drinks or watched their classmates perform throughout the day. On November 3, 2001, the executive board of SGA attended a conference in Atlantic Beach held by N4CSGA entitled “North Carolina Comprehensive Community Colleges Bonded Together for Success.” The activities consisted of meetings and workshops designed to enhance the attendant’s leadership abilities and parliamentary etiquette as well as dancing and games. According to Robert McAllister the greatest concerns across the 59 community college campuses were state-wide e-mailing systems so all of the SGA’s can communicate quicker and easier, a phone accessible for the handicap and funding for Student Leadership Institute.
