Monument DECEMBER 11. 2002 - WCC CAMPUS VOICE 17 Venn Faulk, President of Wayne County Firemen's Association, introduced Congressman Bob Etheridge, United States House of Representatives, the main speaker. Congressman Etheridge recognized the families of the honorees. Most of his speech centered on the events of September 11, 2001. He told of how 350 members of Congress traveled to New York to view the site of the destruction of so many lives and property and how a voice suddenly rang out from someone at the rear of the group who began singing “God Bless America.” One by one, the Congressmen joined in. Congressman Etheridge presented to the Honor Guard of Goldsboro's Police Department an American flag that had been flown over the White House to be raised at the Memorial. Both a National and a State flag were presented by Jerry Forbis, Representative, Woodmen of the World. Representative Phil Baddour presented a North Carolina flag to the Honor Guard of the Goldsboro Fire Department, also for the Memorial. Articulation from page 16 Articulation Day began at 1:30 p.m. with registration. At 1:45 p.m.. Dr. Edward H. Wilson, Jr., President of WCC, and Dr. Steve Taylor, Superintendent of Wayne County Public Schools, addressed the group. Each WCC department was responsible for planning a productive meeting. The meeting time for each group was 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The following departments from Wayne County Public Schools attended: English/language arts, science, math, social studies, music, counseling, career/technical, and media coorditiators.
