New programs meet
workplace needs

WCC continues to meet
workplace demands through
the offering of new programs,
according to Dr. Dan
Krautheim, Senior Vice
President for Student
Services.
Operations Management is
a concentration under the
curriculum title of Business
Administration.
This curriculum is
designed to educate
individuals in the technical
and managerial aspects of
operations for manufacturing
and service industries.
Emphasized are analytical
reasoning, problem solving,
and continuous improvement
concepts required in today’s
dynamic business and
industry environments.
Concepts include quality,
productivity, organizational
effectiveness, financial
analysis, and the management
of human, physical, and
information resources.
Plastics is a concentration
under the curriculum title of
Manufacturing Technology.
This curriculum provides
training in all aspects of the
polymer processing industry,
including materials
technology, injection
molding, extrusion,
thermoforming, blow
molding, and other related
areeis.
Students will also gain
knowledge in machine
operation, maintenance,
setup, design and research,
quality assurance, and safety.
This curriculum is offered
at the following community
colleges: Edgecombe,
Johnston, Nash, Wake
Technical, Wilson, and
Wayne.
The Surgical Technology
curriculum prepares
individuals to assist in the
care of the surgical patient in
the operating room and to
function as a member of the
surgical team.
