THE COUGAR CRY, DEC. 9, 1968, PAGE 3 Twice Defeated November 16, the Wilkes Com munity College Cougars played their first basketball of the sea son. The game began at 8 o’clock in the North Wilkes High School Gymnasium, a scant two hours later the Cougars had met their first defeat by a short margin of three meager points. The victors were from Anderson Junior Col lege. The second disappointment of the season shortly followed the next week on November 26. Coach Linney’s Cougars journey ed to Morganton, North Carolina to challenge the Western Pied mont Community College basket ball team; again they met defeat. WPCC’s team was ahead at half- time by a score of 30 to 27. then near the end of the game when it looked as if the Cougars might have their first victory Western Piedmont came back to win by a final score of 65 to 55. Although the Cougars have been defeated in their first two games the students at Wilkes Community College are still one hundred per cent behind them and rest assured that the team will emerge victorious at the end of the season. Mystery No Longer The identity of the Mystery Girl is no longer a mystery! Here she is fans, Miss Shelby Hampton, a fine representative of beauty at Wilkes Community College. That long awaited moment which has been tearing at the heart strings of every male at WCC has finally arrived. Just imagine, men, there is no longer anything to trouble your contorted little minds except the cosmis order of the universe, the problems of whether or not your grades will transfer and final exams. Registration Procedures Pre-registration for old stu dents begins December 9th, and lasts through December 13. Old students will follow the following three steps. See your advisor and fill out the registration form (all three copies). Then return the four completely filled out forms to the Student Personnel office by no later than December 13, 1968. Finally complete your data card. New students who are register ing shall follow the foiling six steps. First take the placement tests, second, report to Room 4 to arrange schedules and com plete data cards. Third, if in terested, sign the proper student deferment form or the G.I. Bill in the Student Personnel Office. Next see the proper instructor to have your name placed on the roll for each class listed on your registration form. Fifth, go to Room 5 or the Business Office with the four copies of the regis tration form to pay fees and pick up your books. Last, remember to keep the orange registration form, it will be stamped “PAID" by the Business Office, it is your reciept. Old students who are register ing, make sure that you have pre registered, if not report to the Student Personnel Office. If you have pre-registered, pick up your registration form in Room 4, (Continued on Page Four) No One Knows No one knows what is in the mind of another, not even when two people are as conscious of each other that they can an ticipate when the other wants quiet or the comfort of the touch of her lover’s hand or the feather-like kiss of his lips on her throat. Her nerves cry out for relief, only he is capable of giving that care. Only he can reassure her about the myriad worries of a lover, the constant fear that he is with another, the ever-present dread that he may find another more willing or more giving of her favors. She is jealous even of the smiles he bestows on friends. She rages when he laughs too long at a joke. She trembles when he doesn’t laugh as expected. One kiss, one touch, one desire starts another. Until, the waiting will finally become unbearable and even the most reticent and uninitiated de sires become kiowledgable. And still, even with this knowledge, the mind of another is a mystery. T. A. G. Students The time of the year has come for all of the students of W ilkes Community College to put away their mugs of Thanksgiving cheer and begin to study like heck for those final exams.
