Student Government Association Chooses Leaders
The students at Wilkes Com
munity College took on the task
of choosing new Student Govern
ment Association officers and
Sophomore Class officers last
week as they elected Charles
Phi Beta Lambda
Sigma Iota Unit
Installs Officers
The Sigma Iota Chapter of the
Phi Beta Lambda of Wilkes Co
mmunity College .was officially
chartered on Wednesday night,
the 22nd of April, in the Teach
ing Auditorium. Along with the
chapter chartering ritual was the
installation of the four new of
ficers.
Eight members of the Appal
achian State University club were
present to take part in the cere
mony led by the club president,
Bruce Shephard.
The newly formed WCC chapt
er, is dedicated to students who
wish to pursue a career in busi
ness. The club stresses leader
ship of and cooperation with other
people.
The officers installed were:

Mitchell, vice president of the
Freshman Class for this year,
to the post of president of the
SGA for the coming year.
The election took on a dif
ferent aspect than it did last
year and showed much more in
terest as only one office was
uncontested in the race, and there
was an even split between the
college transfer division and the
technical division in represent
ation.
The new president is a rising
sophomore at WCC and is in the
college tranfser division, the
first president from college
transfer in three years. Mitch
ell defeated Allen Vannoy in the
race for the presidency.
