Circle K
The Circle K Club of Wilkes
Community formed an auxiliary
organization, the Keyettes with
All In Data
Bank^ Thanks
To Mr. Austell
The old drudgery of having to
search several places to find
information about a student is
now over, thanks to Mr. Joseph
Austell, director of the Voca
tional and Technical Departments
at WCC.
Mr. Austell found a way to oc
cupy himself over the Christ
mas holidays. He has made a
computer listing of names of all
persons registered in credit pro
grams: technical, college trans
fer, and vocational. Arranged al
phabetically and classified by
curriculum, the list contains all
information that is to be found
in the official register.
Information about a student
can be secured quickly and eas
ily. It will also assist in keeping
track of a student’s progress in
school.
Wanda Miller elected President;
Betty Pipes, Vice President; Ba
rbara Lankford, Secretary; Pat
ty Greene, Treasurer.
Jim Crumpler was accepted as
a new member of Circle K.
In October, Gary Church, Jeff
Shoemaker, Frank Day, and Dan
ny Oakley represented the Circle
K Club of WCC at a Conference
at North Carolina Wesleyan Col
lege at Rocky Mount. There they
exchanged ideas for projects,
better harmony between the Cir
cle K Club and the sponsoring
Kiwanis Club, ways of increas
ing membership and problems
of each club.
There the Circle K Club of
Wilkes Community College was
recognized as one of the best
clubs in the state. Also, in the
Conference, the date of the Cir
cle K Annual Convention was sc
heduled in March at Winston-
Salem.
Before Christmas, club mem
bers sold fire alarms for its
monthly project and a party for
the Circle K members and the
Keyettes at the Junior Women’s
Club in North Wilkesboro.

Mr. Johnson
(Continued from Page One)
Mr. Johnson is the Vice-Presid
ent of The Northwestern Bank,
specializing in expansion prog
rams.
In discussing his new role of
teacher, Mr. Johnson indicated
to Joseph Austell, director of
occupational programs, that the
students that he is currently in
association with are highly mo
tivated young men who are eager
to get into industry and business
organizations.
Wilkes Community College is
indeed fortunate to have obtained
the services of such an outstand
