Cougars Get Slow Start In Conference The WCC Cougars started the season with a bang by beating Winston-Salem Business College by a score of 68-67. Since then, calamity has struck as our school has run up against teams that have had much more playing ex perience and possibly more time to get themselves together as a team. Davidson showed a great deal of strength as they outplayed the Cougars to the sour tune of 57-76. Junior Jackson and Frank Saunders lead the scoring with 17 and 13 respectively. Jackson and Clyde Atwood were high sco rers in the first game with Gas ton Community College. Atwood had 15 points and Jackson, 14. The final score in that game was 56-85. The second game with Gaston found Gaston with a 56- point lead when the game ended. Jackson was top scorer in that game. In the two games with Surry Community College the odds were a little more even. Jackson and Saunders led in baskets to hold their rivals to a 7-point victory point lead in the second. Our Cougars popped into the victory circle again when they defeated Winston-Salem Business College in another round by a score of 68-65.
