Pruitt, Dyer Tie for President
Freshmen class elections
were held last week here at the
college and all offices but one
have been filled.
The race for president of the
Freshman class resulted in a tie
between David Pruitt and Gary
Dyer. A runoff election was
held Monday, but results
weren’t known in time to be
published in this issue of the
Cougar Cry.
Terry Jackson was voted to
the office of vice-president,
Kathy Blevins was elected sec
retary, and Rita Cline will fill
the position of treasurer.
Six freshmen senators were
also chosen by proclamation
vote. They are Elaine Broach,
Bessie Mayes, Kay McClure,
Sandy Jones, Patty Cleary and
Phyllis Clark.
PRESIDENT — David Pruitt
is a graduate of Starmount
High School, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bobbie Pruitt and is
in the College Transfer Pro
gram. He resides in Elkin.
Gary Dyer, a graduate of
Wilkes Central High School, re
sides in North Wilkesboro with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Dyer, and is enrolled in the
College Transfer Program.
VICE-PRESIDENT — Terry
Jackson is enrolled in the Col
lege Transfer Program, a grad
uate of Wilkes Central High
School, and is the son of W. E.
Jackson, Jr. of Cycle.

Blevins of Lansing, is majoring
in Business Data Processing
and a graduate of Ashe Central
High School.
TREASURER—-Rita Cline is
a graduate of Alexander Cen
tral High School, enrolled in
the College Transfer Division,
and is the daughter of Mr. Wil
liam W. Cline of Taylorsville.
SENATORS — Elains Broach,
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ted M. Broach, is enrolled in
the College Transfer Program.
Bessie Mayes is a graduate of
Happy Plains High School and
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Hayes. She is enrolled
in the college transfer pro
gram.
Kay McClure, a graduate of
Ashe Central High School, is
the daughter of Rev. and Mrs.
Hayes McClure and majoring
in Secretarial Science. Sandy
Jones is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Jones, a gradu
ate of Watauga High School
and enrolled tn the College
Transfer Division.
Patty Cleary graduated at
West Wilkes High School and is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
H. R. Cleary. She is enrolled
in the College Transfer Pro
gram. Phyllis Clark is also a
graduate of West Wilkes; she
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Wake Clark and is in the
College Transfer Division.

Wilkes College Graduate
Receives Scholarship
Mr. Wade Wilmoth, sales manager for Holiday Sales, presents
check to Mr. Jeffery Edmiston as Dr. Howard Thompson and Mr.
John Idol look on.
Mr. Jeffery Edmiston won a
$400 scholarship from Holiday
Sales in Boone, North Carolina.
Mr. Edmiston graduated from
Wilkes Community College in
May 1971, and is presently em
ployed with Holiday Sales.
During the summer, he was
listed as high salesman for col
lege men.
Mr. Edmiston is married to
the former Carolyn Williams,
daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Wil
liams of Wilkes County. Mr.
Edmiston is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd N. Edmiston, Jr. of
Moravian Falls.
